3D printing Materials

When using our 3D printing service, please specify which material you want us to print your model in. The material will depend on the printer  being used.

Please note that all materials are priced by the amount used. Our printer's software will calculate how much material will be used for your print.

Formlabs Standard Resins

$0.70/mL

Compatible printer(s):   Form 2 SLA; Form 3BL SLA

Color(s):   Black, Clear  (Frosted unless buffed)

Description:  Black Resin has a nice matte surface finish that shows detail in any model. Clear is great for microfluidics, optics, or other models that need transparency. The Formlabs standard resins are the more cost efficient resins for our SLA (Stereolithography) printers.

Formlabs High Temp V2 Resin

$0.90/mL

Compatible printer(s):   Form 2 SLA; Form 3BL SLA

Color:   Frosted clear (pink hue)

Description:  High Temp Resin offers a heat deflection temperature (HDT) of 238 °C @ 0.45 MPa, the highest among Formlabs resins. Use it to print detailed, precise prototypes with high temperature resistance. It is ideal for printing  :
  • Hot air, gas, and fluid flow
  • Heat resistant mounts, housings, and fixtures
  • Molds and inserts

Formlabs Flexible Resin

$0.90/mL

Compatible printer(s):   Form 2 SLA; Form 3BL SLA

Color:   Black

Description:  Flexible resin simulates the flexibility and durability of rubber of TPU. Balancing softness with strength, flexible resin can withstand bending, flexing, and compression, even through repeated cycles.   Ideal for:
  • Handles and   Grips
  • Cushioning, dampening, shock absorbtion
  • Seals and Gaskets
  • Cartilage, tendon, and ligament anatomy replications

Formlabs Elastic 50A Resin

$0.90/mL

Compatible printer(s):   Form 2 SLA; Form 3BL SLA

Color:   Frosted Clear

Description:   Elastic resin simulates silicon. Parts printed in elastic resin will bend, stretch, compress, and hold up to repeated cycles without tearing, and spring back quickly to their original shape. Ideal for:
  • Wearables-such as straps
  • Compressible buttons
  • Stretchable enclosures and casings
  • Soft tissue anatomy replications

Formlabs Tough 2000 Resin

$0.80/mL

Compatible printer(s):   Form 2 SLA; Form 3BL SLA

Color:   Grey

Description:   Tough resin is best for prototyping strong and sturdy parts that should not bend easily. Ideal for:
  • Strong, stiff prototypes
  • Jigs and fixtures requiring    minimal deflection
  • Simulating the strength and stiffness of ABS

Picture
Formlabs BioMed Resin

$1.60/mL

Compatible printer(s):   Form 3BL SLA

Color:   Frosted Clear

Description:   BioMed resin is a hard, strong material for biocompatible applications requiring long-term skin or mucosal membrane contact. This USP Class VI certified material is suitable for applications that require wear resistance and low water absorption over time. Parts printed in BioMed resin are compatible with common sterilization methods. Ideal for:
  • Medical devices, device components
  • Jigs and fixtures
  • Surgical planning and implant sizing tools
  • Research and development

Formlabs Fuse Nylon 12

$0.50/ gram

Compatible printer(s):   Fuse 1

Color(s):   Grey

Description:  Balancing strength and detail, Nylon 12 Powder is a highly capable material for both functional prototyping and end-use production of complex assemblies and durable parts with high environmental stability. With the Fuse 1 SLS (Selective Laser Sintering), parts do not need supports and can be stacked to fill the whole bed chamber.

Stratasys  ABS plastic

$6 /cubic inch

Compatible printer(s):   Uprint Plus FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling); Dimension Elite FDM

Color(s):   Varies- we do not except color requests for the Uprint or the Dimension

Description:  ABS is a great, economical material for prototyping and functional parts that don't hold weight or pressure.  It is fairly rigid with good dimensional stability.

MakerBot Tough PLA plastic

$0.23/ gram

Compatible printer(s):   MakerBot Method X  FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)

Color(s):   Varies- we do not except color requests for the MakerBot Method X

Description:  Tough is a material that is great for mid-stage prototypes because of its ease of use and office-friendliness. An added benefit over PLA is its durability, pliability, and machinability which makes it perfect for snap fits and assemblies.  Tough PLA should be used with PVA supports and post processing should be done in water.
