Production ready 3D printing! We keep adding to our additive manufacturing! We just got in the new Formlabs Fuse 1 + Sift . Who said 3D printing was just for prototyping!? With this machine it is possible to print small production runs of finished products. The Fuse prints in Nylon 12, which is a durable and flexible plastic that can withstand weight, stress, and a number of other conditions. The Fuse is SLS, or selective laser sintering technology. This process allows you to print parts without any support material AND you can stack parts to fill the whole build chamber.
The Fuse is available for our 3D Printing Service. You can find more machine specification on our Equipment page. |

New 3D Printer in the Lab!We have just added the MakerBot Method X to our fleet of 3D printers. The amazing thing about this printer is that unlike the other printers in our lab, it can print in a variety of materials using swap-able extruder heads! Similar to our other FDM printers, it can also print in soluble support material so you can get a beautiful print quality. Find out more about it material capacities on our EQUIPMENT page.
Check out the Nylon Carbon Fiber print we made! This printer is available for our 3D Printing Service . |

New Laser Cutter in the Lab!We just had a very successful install of our newest toy! We now have a 36"X 18" laser cutter open for public use! And to everyone wondering, it is the exact same interface as our old lasers so there is nothing new to learn except how you can expand your making capabilities!
We also had a lot of fun making a specialty computer cart with extra storage for the new laser. Take a look to see us going from 3D design, to 2D manufacturing, back to 3D assembly! Thanks to McMaster Carr for providing 3D files of their quality hardware to incorporate into our 3D design for the cart. We were able to transfer accurately any hardware screw and alignment holes directly to our cabinet so we could quickly and easily install the drawer slides! |

New Vacuum Former in the lab!We are so excited that we have a new machine in the Lab! We just received our new Mayku Formbox Vacuum Former. We see so many great opportunities for this machine and are excited to see how this machine will bridge that gap between 3D printing and manufacturing. Check out our teaser video about this new machine to see how it works!

PPE PRODUCTIONAPRIL 2020
Fab Lab Baltimore is currently responding to the COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shortages with in-house production and volunteers from the community! We are partnering with HOUSING OUR NEIGHBORS (HON) and BALTIMORE TRANSIT EQUITY COALITION to provide PPE to our vulnerable neighbors staying in Baltimore City homeless shelters and encampments as well as members of the essential workforce that are reliant on public transportation. Our goal is to help stem the flow of hospital visits and to work in communities that data has shown are more at-risk of contracting COVID-19. These partnerships are not only helping to keep these communities safe but also keep the wider general public safe by limiting the amount of cases of COVID-19 in our area. To find out more about these two organizations check out the links below. THANK YOU to all of the volunteer sewists and couriers for donating your time and energy into this project! We are so proud of this maker community! |
